An Update of Sorts

I have started a blog post several times over the past couple of months, but honestly, I’m not sure what to say.

The writing hasn’t been going well this year. This is obvious from my lack of publishing any new stories. Last year I published only two stories and was determined to do better this year. So far that hasn’t happened. Sigh.

The year is not over, and there is still time.

I think a lot of this has to do with things outside of the writing. While I don’t like talking about my private life, because, you know, it’s private, there are things that go on there. The main thing is I take care of an elderly family member, and there are some days I just feel so defeated.

I’m not saying this for sympathy of any kind. There are people in this world who have it far worse than me. I mention this more for understanding. I guess that is the best way to put it.

Some days are so stressful that all I want to do is doomscroll on my phone. Sometimes when things are calm, I think I’m finally going to get my shit together, but I don’t. I don’t know why.

Well, gee. This is turning into a depressing post. I’ll stop with all of this depressing stuff while I might still have your attention.

I am trying to get with it and get more stories written. I have attempted many stories in the past few months, but between the stress of life and getting in my own way, nothing has panned out so far.

Hopefully, something will pan out soon.

One thing that has bothered me is my silence on this blog. I keep thinking I need to write and post something, but then I don’t know what to say. I figured it was better to write something than nothing at all. That is what this post is all about.

My goal is to post regularly again here, because often writing a blog post gets me writing stories. That and I enjoy doing this, and I’m honestly not sure why I’ve neglected this poor site for so long.

The thing I keep telling myself is that there is still time to turn things around this year. To be more productive and get more things done. This is what I plan to do.

Another story will come out before the end of the year, I promise. I just don’t know when. In the meantime, my goal is to be more active here to help to keep the writing juices flowing.

So if you’re still with me, stay tuned for more ramblings coming your way.

Subscribe by Email is Going Away. . . For Now

When I first set up this site, FeedBurner had a nice subscribe by email option built into the site. I really appreciated it. FeedBurner was by no means perfect, but then again, nothing is. Google eventually shut down the subscribe by email part of FeedBurner. Like many other bloggers, I searched for a replacement. Like many others, I opted to go with follow.it for this service. Again, this was not a perfect option, but let’s go back to nothing is perfect. With follow.it, they placed ads in the emails, which were not too obtrusive. I figured I could live with this for now. If I gained more subscribers, I’d either go for a paid version of follow.it to remove the ads or something else. I always subscribe to my own blog so that way I can monitor things and make sure they work. I also subscribe to a few other bloggers who use the same service. A few months ago, I noticed that instead of putting my post content in the email, follow.it instead sent a link to click on to read the post. I...

A Valentine's Gift Coming This Weekend

I’ve been trying to stay warm these past two weeks since we’ve had another one of those polar vortex things in my part of the world. In trying to do so, I’ve been hard at work on the next story in my Wedding Troubles Series. As of now, I’m not sure when I’ll get this story out, but it's coming along and I’m making lots of progress. During all this cold and snow, I thought of Valentine’s Day. Since I write romance, I figured this was a good time of the year to offer a little gift to everyone. So be sure to check back on Friday to see what it is!

A Notebook of Productivity - An Attempt to Get It Together

I’m always struggling to get my shit together and be more productive in life. Most especially my writing. If you’ve followed this blog for any length of time, then you already know this. I’ve talked about this in several posts on this blog. Back in May , I wrote a post about all the things I was working on. As always, I got lazy and didn’t really work on any of it. It was also back in May when I came up with the idea for my latest story, The Worst Man. That story sort of took my attention over everything else I was planning on doing, like learning how to build eBooks without an online converter, and other things I talked about in that post. As a result, when it came time to publish that story, I yet again used the Reedsy editor to convert my story to ePub. Which is fine. I love the Reedsy converter, and I was even thinking that maybe I’d just stick with it. Except when I went to do the final conversion, there was a hiccup on Reedsy’s side of things, and I didn’t get my ePub to co...
